Full description:

Transpire mobile app is a revised version of the HealthMindr mobile app, intended for a different population for public health research study. The app is web-based developed natively for iOS and Android platforms. The app uses traditional form authentication for logging in, ie- email and password. The app only uses local data storage for minimal information such as app settings. No user data or study-related information will be saved within the app at any time. All the data displayed within the mobile app are retrieved in real time. All communication between the mobile app and the web service use SSL. Mobile app implements an automatic logout when there is inactivity for more than 3 minutes. The app also has generic push notifications that are primarily used for reminder and notifications of new messages. Firebase cloud messaging service is used for these notifications. The purpose of the app is to provide sexual health information about HIV, STIs, PrEP, and local clinics and resources for research purposes. Participants can set up testing reminders and take quizzes to assess testing recommendations.

User and data information:

The app provides information about HIV, STI, PrEP, sexual health and local resources for study participants. Participants can order HIV and STI test kits to be shipped to them for home testing. This is free of charge and is not reported in any medical records but for participant information only. Sensitive information that will be collected include name, DOB, phone number, email, and address. This information will NOT be stored within the mobile app but passed through SSL from the web service. The web system will store the information along with lab test results for the study. The data will be stored on the central SQL server database that is secure and accessed via secure website that requires login and password for each study staff user. All components will be protected and secure.
